Description:
One of the best loved perennial herbs, lavender is known not only for the purple hue that bears its name, but for its delicate fragrance. Grown for color in the garden and fresh bouquets, lavender is also added to soaps and lotions and is dried for use in wreaths, sachets and potpourri.
Native to the Mediterranean, preferring full sun sun and light well-drained soil, lavender can be grown from seed, cuttings or divisions. Depending on the variety, lavender attains a height from one to three feet and blooms late spring to midsummer.
