Found in shades of yellow, cream, mahogany and crimson, requiring full sun and, in fact, thriving in hot, dry weather conditions, these annuals grown from seed flower on tall, strong stalks reaching from two to ten feet high. Sunflowers will bloom from midsummer to frost. In late summer and fall their ripe seeds attract varied species on songbirds.
